Day 1   Johannesburg
On arrival at OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg) you are met and transferred to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, exploring the magnificent suburban shopping malls or take an optional Soweto Tour (own account).

Day 2   Pretoria / Mpumalanga (BD)
We depart Johannesburg at 07h30 for Pretoria, South Africa’s capital city, for a short orientation tour, before continuing east to Mpumalanga. We drop several hundred feet into the lush subtropical region of the Lowveld. We travel via the historic towns of Witbank, Dullstroom and Lydenburg, passing over the famous Long Tom Pass onto the small town of Sabie. This afternoon explore the living history in the form of Pilgrim’s Rest, the old mining village where gold was first discovered.

Day 3   Kruger National Park (BD)
This morning we gaze at the expansive view of God’s Window - an endless view of forested mountains and fertile plains. We then visit the spectacular Blyde River Canyon, one of the natural wonders of Africa. We explore the quaint village of Graskop before arriving mid afternoon at our overnight hotel.

Day 4   Kruger National Park   (B)
A full day ‘Big Five’ game viewing in Kruger National Park. Set off before breakfast in an open safari vehicle in search of lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard, and all manner of wondrous wildlife, birds and plant species. Savour the magic of this enormous wilderness.

Day 5   The Kingdom of Swaziland   (BLD)
Enjoy an enchanting drive to the tiny Kingdom of Swaziland, a former British Protection Territory, now ruled by King MsWati III. Witness a Swazi cultural experience before visiting the famous Ngwenya Glass Factory to see master craftsmen fashion collectable figures and functional art out of molten glass. We continue through the capital city, Mbabane, known for its vibrant markets packed with woven baskets, beadwork and carvings. Spend the night in the beautiful Ezulwini Valley.

Day 6   The Kingdom of the Zulu’s (B)
Visit the Swazi Candle Factory, teeming with exquisite wax artworks in every shape and colour imaginable. Then on into Zululand, passing traditional round huts and endless vistas. Arrive mid afternoon at the town of St Lucia, a World Heritage Site and home to hippo, crocodile and no less than 367 bird species.

Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park.

Day 7   Durban (B)
This morning enjoy a cruise on Lake St Lucia before departing for Durban. Hug the lush KwaZulu-Natal coastline en route to Durban, watching the sugar cane fields do their own version of the Mexican wave at the urging of the wind. Check into your hotel just before lunch (own account). The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure, or you may opt take an optional afternoon Durban City Tour (own account).

Day 8   Port Elizabeth / Knysna   (BD)
Morning at leisure until your collection and transfer to the airport for your mid morning flight to Port Elizabeth (cost of flight not included). There you’ll be met by a new guide who’ll, upon everyone arriving, take you
through the glorious, indigenous Tsitsikamma Forest, before reaching Knysna, perhaps South Africa’s most visually stunning resort, in the heart of the famous Garden Route.

Day 9   Knysna (BL)
Cruise on the vast Knysna Lagoon and visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Enjoy an amazing view of the imposing sandstone ‘Heads’ which guard the sea entrance to Knysna’s huge tidal lagoon, and the forests, marshes and pristine beaches beyond. After lunch the remainder of the day at leisure, to enjoy this lovely and special town.

Day 10   Oudtshoorn (BL)
This morning we enjoy the wonderful views of the spectacular Outeniqua Pass en route to Oudtshoorn, the feather capital of the world’, so named because it’s the centre of South Africa’s ostrich industry. After lunch, we learn more about these hardy, enigmatic creatures during a tour of an ostrich farm. We then head underground for a fascinating tour of the Cango Caves, one of South Africa’s most incredible natural wonders.

Day 11 Cape Town   (B)
A day of magnificent vistas. Enjoy the everchanging passing canvas as we travel to Cape Town. During the whale season we will travel via the seaside village of Hermanus in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the southern right whales, which frolic offshore (July to November only). Out of season we will return to Cape Town along 62’, South Africa’s version of America’s 66’.

Day 12   Cape Peninsula (B)
A full day touring of the ruggedly beautiful Cape Peninsula via the Atlantic seaboard. We stop at the fishing village of Hout Bay, where you can opt to take a cruise (own account) to Seal Island to watch the antics of these natural performers. Then we continue to the Cape Point Nature Reserve, before stopping off to see the lovable penguins at Boulders Beach. We drive through the quaint naval village of Simon’s Town on our way back to Cape Town.

Day 13   Cape Winelands (B)
Journey into the beautiful and tranquil Cape Winelands, visiting both Paarl and Stellenbosch before stopping for wine tasting at two well known estates. A visit to the Huguenot Memorial Museum and the Afrikaans Language
Monument provides a historical perspective.

Day 14   Cape Town (B)
This brings us to the end of our World in One Country’. Check out of your hotel and transfer to the airport for your flight home.

Day 01   Arrive in Cape Town, South Africa
Your South Africa in 10 Days tour, commences with your arrival in Cape Town. Here you will be met and transferred to the De Waterkant Village where you check in for (3) nights on a bed and breakfast basis.

The De Waterkant Village is a collection of colourful European influenced houses & cottages, some of the cobble stoned roads & buildings dating to the 1700’s. Situated between the city and the famous V&A Waterfront, the village is a curious mix of past & present, and is home to an abundance of restaurants, art galleries & clubs.

Day 02   Full Day Tour of Cape Peninsula
This morning you will be taken on a privately guided full day tour of the Cape Peninsula, with lunch included. This is a ‘must do’ tour when in Cape Town. The tour takes you on a spectacular coastal journey through to the Cape Peninsula, and includes highlights such as:

• Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope
• Boulders Beach – Penguin Colony
• Hout Bay – optional boat trip to Seal Colony

Day 03   Full Day Tour of City & Robben Island
This morning you will be taken on a privately guided full day tour of the city of Cape Town, followed by lunch. The after lunch you will join the public guided tour to Robben Island, which included a boat trip to the island and a guided tour of this former prison island. On returning to the mainland your guide will transfer you back to your hotel.
This tour takes a step back in time as you explore the “Mother City” of South Africa – its views, its history and its people. The tour then takes guests on a more recently historical tour to the notorious Robben Island prison where Nelson Mandela and other present day South African politicians were incarcerated. Highlights include:

• Travel by cable car to the top of the world famous Table Mountain and enjoy spectacular views of the city (weather dependant)
• City orientation tour
• The Castle of Good Hope – our first fort

Day 04   Full Day Wineland Tour & Franschoek
This morning you check out of the hotel and will be taken on a privately guided full day tour of the Cape winelands, with lunch included.  The tour of the Cape Winelands is characterized by the backdrop of majestic mountains, lush valleys, quaint villages and scenic vineyards. Highlights include:

• Stellenbosch, tree lined streets, historical architecture, alfresco cafés and good shopping
• Franschhoek Valley with its endless mountain vistas
• Paarl – “the pearl of the Cape” – home to the Afrikaans language
• Cape Dutch architecture – visit the acclaimed Boschendal Manor House
• Wine tasting on some of the finest Cape Wine Estates
• Cellar tour

At the end of the tour you will be dropped off at the Franschoek Country House in the quaint village of Franschoek. Here you overnight on a bed and breakfast basis.  Nestled in the picturesque wine valley of Franschhoek. This intimate hotel, offers luxury and relaxation to discerning travellers. The restored manor house and former perfumery date back to late 1800s. Situated on the edge of the Franschoek village, the hotel is surrounded by enchanting vineyards and majestic mountains.

Day 05   Cape Winelands to Zululand
This morning you will be collected from Franschoek Country House
and transferred to the Cape Town International Airport where you board your flight to Durban, in the province of Kwa Zulu Natal.

Here you will be met and transferred to Eshowe, where you check in at the Chennells Guest House for (2) nights on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis.  Chennels Guest House forms part of an old Victorian Home. It commands sweeping views of green Zululand. An ideal place, from which to explore and experience the Zulu culture.

Day 06   Full Day Zulu Cultural Experience
This day in the South Africa in 10 days Tour, exposes you to some true Zulu culture (as opposed to the ‘traditional’ cultural villages that are far too common). You will be taken on a full day tour of rural Kwa Zulu Natal, where the focus is on experiencing Zulu culture as it is today. Lunch is included, and you will return to the guest house in the late afternoon.

Today you experience real Zulu Cultural of a rural village as it is today. On this excursion guests meet and interact with local people. The easy approach of this tour reflects true African life, and is an eye opener to any visitor coming from a first world counrty. You will meet the local Zulus who for the most part have next to no material possesions, but yet are rich in knowledge and life. Guests witness the day to day chores of a Zulu village, locally used tools and crafts, vegetable gardens and depending on the day a possible visit to a Zionist Church to enjoy the beautiful sounds of Zulu people in song. This tour is a real cultural experience, there are no people waiting for your arrival to perform anything.

Day 07   Zululand to Rhino Post Safari Lodge, Kruger Park
This morning you will be transferred to Durban Airport, where you board your flight to Nelspruit, in the province of Mpumalanga. Here you will be met and transferred into the Kruger National Park for the start of the safari section of the South Africa in 10 Days tour.  Here you check in at the Rhino Post Safari Lodge for (1) night on a fully inclusive basis.

Rhino Post Safari Lodge is nestled in an exclusive concession of 12000 hectares of pristine bushveld. Home to all many of South African wildlife, including the big 5.

Day 08   Rhino Post Safari Lodge to Plains Camp, Kruger Park
This morning after your game drive safari and breakfast, you will be transferred to the Plains Camp where you spend the next (2) night s on a luxury walking safari on a fully inclusive basis.

Day 09   Plains Camp, Kruger Park
On safari at the Plains Camp, Kruger National Park. Plains Camp in the Kruger Park offers a high quality walking safari in that embraces all aspects of a safari, from big game and ancient trees, to breathtaking landscapes and dung beetles.

The camp, built and decorated in an African explorer theme, has just four luxury safari tents, thus sleeping only a maximum of 8 adults. Each tent has ensuite facilities with hot and cold running water, toilets and comfortable beds.

Day 10   Kruger Park to Johannesburg
This morning after your last safari and breakfast you will be transferred back to Rhino Post Safari Lodge, where you will be collected and transferred back to the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport near Nelspruit. Here you board your flight to Johannesburg, which marks the end of the South Africa in 10 Days tour.
